Cafe gem on Victoria St

Good things coming out of this narrow cafe space with friendly service and wonderful temptations on display from Brickfields. Piccolo ($3.50) and Cappuccino ($3.50) made with The Black Lab coffee with a good strong flavour. Babyccinos were free and so cute with dog and cat froth art. The kids loved them. Mortadella, semi-dried tomato, provolone sandwich ($12.50) so simple yet so tasty. Avo smash - goats feta, lemon, cherry tomato and mint ($15.50) looking so vibrant and pretty and delivered on great flavour. Loved the addition of the spiced dukkah (I think) on the lemon to squeeze on top to bring the flavour hit to the next level. Such a great addition to the cafe hub on Victoria Street.

New shorty kids on the block

Taking over from where BiancoNero Espresso used to be in The Spot it's a fun name for a place with a bit of tongue in check reference to the owner who's not so short like Little John. Cappuccino ($3.50) is made well using Single O Paradox. Babyccino ($1.50) comes in a paper cup with a side of marshmallow and is about half froth so a pretty good result. The Breakfast Toastie with ham, cheese, tomato chutney, hollandaise on sourdough ($10) is a great choice as a hunger buster. Very tasty and a generous size using The Bread & Butter Project sourdough. I'd definitely get again or share again with the Mrs. Hash Brown on the side ($3) helps complete the carbs and always a winner when deep fried to a golden brown crunch. Free parking in the area is always a challenge but locals have a great new spot for their coffee and breakfast fix. Decent amount of seating and there's also a back deck out the back. On the wishlist for next visit will be the Prana Masala Chai, Bacon & Egg Milk Bun and their Reuben Sandwich.
