Sydney's next level food hall
I've always enjoyed the food hall at David Jones but this new renovation has taken the experience to a whole new level of food heaven. It's hard not to be tempted to want to try everything as you walk around the food sections. Seafood looks vibrant and fresh, vegetables and fruit look flawless and the tarts and cakes in the patisserie section look amazing and the prices don't seem to be crazy expensive for the high quality appearance. I spotted a French toast with strawberries, mascarpone, chocolate and hazelnut spread and roasted hazelnuts coming off The Kitchen pass and that's priced at a reasonable $12 on the menu. For those with a bit more money to burn there's the Raw Lobster Tails ($139.95/kg), Holy Goat La Luna Ring ($215.95/kg) and Manjimup Winter Black Truffle ($4500/kg) to fill your basket. I'm most curious about the Sydney Rock Oysters shucking station but labelled at '$22.95 per unit' I'm hoping that's not actually per oyster? Otherwise I'm heading for the King Crab Clusters instead for $79.95/kg and a slice of a great looking Free Range Roast Porchetta.
