New Thai kids on the block
These guys seem to already be well established in Newtown and Bondi and are now trying their hand in the food court market in the CBD. They've opened this week in Martin Place and so far gathering a bit of interest in their high pedestrian location. Menu prices are all around the $10.90 to $12.90 which is pretty reasonable for a cooked to order dish in the CBD these days. Bamee Ped Naam Soup ($12.90) of grilled roasted duck, duck broth, egg noodles, vegetables is my first dish to try only because it's the first dish promoted on the menu. I was hoping for a normal wider bowl as per their menu photo but unfortunately it comes in a takeaway bowl that's quite deep yet narrow which I find makes it a bit frustrating to eat out of. It also means there's not as much room for broth and to get to the noodles easily which are packed down the bottom. The duck broth is quite salty and the noodles are bit overly doughy in taste for me. Probably due to their compact presentation and not easily flowing amongst a larger bowl of broth. The duck itself is OK and the vegetables quite nice. I'll probably try the Pad Thai with prawns next or Crispy Duck Basil with rice sounds good too. The food court gets pretty busy during lunch so getting a seat can be a challenge.
