Classic French and British Fare
I first visited The Wool & Wheat Bar on 8 February for a Cappuccino ($3 takeaway) using Reuben Hills coffee. It had nice flavour although seemed a bit light on the chocolate at the time. Ever since I've been curious to revisit The Dining Room. The 2 courses for $39 seemed to be the go. Glad to see the oyster game is strong here. Sydney Rock Oysters from Broadwater Oysters Pambula Lake are usually $4 each on the bar menu or can be ordered as an entree (4 pieces) on the $39, two course menu. They were shucked to order with excellent brine retained and lovely flavour. I was very happy with these. NZ King Salmon petit pois a la francaise, lemon beurre blanc and dill ($32, or $39 two course menu) is nicely cooked on a bed of a richly flavoured petit pois a la francaise. Service was friendly and professional. Seems to be an ideal spot for business lunches or group bookings in The Dining Room.
