Kid and Adult Friendly

I love how you can still feel like an adult in this very kid friendly venue. Sydney Rock Oysters ($4 each) from Merimbula are shucked to order and retain some nice flavoured brine. Margherita pizza with tomato and mozzarella ($12.50 kids menu) has a nice soft and tasty base and is demolished by Miss 6 year old. There's plenty of seating and a kids play area that's always filled with loud screams of joy. Handy location right next to the beach. There's free street parking in the area but highly popular on weekends. One of my spiritual homes when I'm on daddy daycare duty and in need of a casual eat with the kids. The free wifi is handy as well.

New cafe in Coogee

“We’ve also made sure there is something for everyone: whether you eat everything, you’re paleo, vegetarian, sugar free, dairy free, nut free or gluten free. We even offer the widest variety of milk in Coogee to enjoy with your coffee, tea, smoothies or granola – full fat cow, lite cow, skinny cow, coconut, soy and almond milk.”

This cafe used to be The Square Peg which I never got a chance to visit but I remember it was always busy. It's now The Diver Cafe which still seems popular amongst the locals. I really enjoyed my Cappuccino ($3.50) using The Little Marionette coffee. Nice smoothness and flavour. Hot Chocolate ($3.50) for Miss 4 year old is very much enjoyed served with a marshmallow and in a paper cup with a lid. Miss 1 year old has her usual Babyccino ($1) which also comes with a marshmallow. The paper cup is much appreciated and even though it's served as mostly milk it has a lid just in case its accidentally spilt. Banana bread ($5) is toasted and served with butter. Very tasty and enjoyed. A few stools inside but most of the seating is outside taking advantage of the distant ocean views. Friendly service and good coffee makes this a bit of a local gem. Hope to try more of the menu when I get a chance. The House Made Crumpets with caramelised banana, honey butter + crumbled walnuts ($16) is calling my name.

Kiwi Style Fish & Chips, Coogee (19 Aug 2016)

Fryday in Coogee

I've been to the Mascot shop a couple of times so was keen to try the Coogee store. Fishermans Parcel with 3 fish cocktails, 3 calamari, prawn cutlet, crab claw and chips ($15) is ideal for a fryday fix for one or even to share. The fish cocktails are some of the largest I've come across from a fish and chip shop in Sydney with crispy thin batter and nice tasting fish. Calamari rings are tender and there's a decent amount of chips to satisfy. Seating is limited and decor basic. Smooth FM video hits play in the background. Service was friendly. It's a shame they're only open for dinner as I think a lunch on weekends would be very popular being so close to the beach.
