Fich is the new chicken
I'm suspecting this new fish and chip shop is filling a niche market amongst the Portuguese chicken shops in Petersham. Fich and Chips ($15 takeaway menu) has a good crispy batter with nice flakey fish of the day. A large portion of decent crispy beer battered chips sits underneath although I wish they did their own handcut chips to make them a bit more unique. Comes with fresh lemon and Masterfoods tomato sauce. Generous enough to possibly share I think. Fich Potato Scallops ($2, 2 pieces, takeaway menu) are thick cut like an ice hockey puck with a good crispy batter. There's 3 small tables available outside for takeaways and a nice large restaurant space for those ordering from the dine in menu. In hindsight I should have ordered the Fichermans Basket ($20) that included calamari rings and battered mussels for a bit more variety.
