French Bakery in Maroubra

Great looking bakery that's popular with the locals which you can practise your French with the service. Baguette ($3.90), Croissant ($3.80) and Pain au Chocolat ($3.80) were all enjoyed. Baguette was great to have back home with some ham and cheese. Definitely coming back for more and trying other baked goods on the limited menu. Spotted they also do coffee although there's only a few bench seats to dine in so more as a takeaway place.

French bakery in the CBD

Handy bakery in the CBD to pick up some freshly baked croissants. This time I'm getting a couple of Baguettes ($2.20 each) for a simple dinner at home for the cheese platter. Simple sandwiches and a decent variety of pastries available. Staff friendly and helpful. For takeaways help yourself with the tongs to place your goods in the brown paper bags provided. Decent amount of seating available for dine ins.

Beautiful looking cakes to tempt

“Ninou, a French Boulangerie, Pâtisserie and Viennoiserie, produces premium quality French-style breads, viennoiseries, gourmet savoury food and pastries.”

My first time visit and loving the presentation of their cakes and I think reasonably priced for the level of quality. Lemon Tart ($7) has nice thin pastry and lovely lemon flavour. The Babyccino ($1) needs work to be more baby friendly as it's served in a ceramic cup and all milk. It's also not served with a spoon. I'm suspecting the barista has no idea what a 1 year old is capable of with this in their clumsy hands. The mini choux pastry is much loved though. My Cappuccino ($3.50) uses Ethica Coffee which is commendable although I'm not too sure if I like the sharp bitter taste, perhaps it's the way it's made. A takeaway 'Emotion' - Bavaroise, Raspberry Compote, Madeleine Biscuit & White Chocolate Streusel ($7) is a welcomed sight back home for the Mrs. Was very yummy with nice flavours and texture. Spotted a Traditional Baguette ($3.50 end of the day special) which was very good. Decent size and nice crust with soft bread inside. Went very well with some cheese at home and a simple breakfast the next day. Service was nice and friendly and loved the ambient French style music. There's parking on the street in front which makes it very handy for a takeaway. I really like the comfortable seats too. Looking forward to trying more of the tempting cakes and pastries for a well-earned sugar hit.

A slice of France in Maroubra

Good spot to pick up a sweet treat. This time around just got a French baguette ($4.50). It's rather thin and has a nice crust and makes for a suitable bread for a simple lunch at home. Staff are friendly and there's free parking underneath Pacific Square.
