Discovering fashion
And I do my little turn on the catwalk'
This fashion event was to showcase Sydney’s hottest up-and-coming labels along with complimentary cocktails and canapes. Collections were from Honeysett, The Last Romantic, Edie Mae, Wolf Parade, UnNaked, ClintonCharlie, Lauren Damelian and Flea as well as featured artwork from local artist Elise Maree and a supporting stylist Rachel Kean. I enjoyed the choice of catwalk music which got the crowd excited although I couldn't stop thinking how funny it would have been to have played a bit of Right Said Fred — I've included the video link below. The invitation received from Cargo Lounge didn't state any cover charge but upon arrival most people were asked to pay $10 except those on a special 'VIP' guest list. The promotion of the event left me a little confused in this regard because LiveGuide and What's On Sydney also promoted the event as free while EventSetter mentions the $10. In any case sparkling, white wine and cosmopolitan cocktails were flowing and a decent amount of canapes managed to make their way around the place by the professional service including my favourite weirdly shaped prawn wontons.
SNAPSHOT REVIEW:
PROS: Great music, Free drinks and canapés
CONS: Fashion wannabes, Confusion of the $10 cover charge not listed in the invite promotion
MUST TRY: Prawn wonton
