A casual meetup with friends was going to be Mamma's Kitchen but they noticed it didn't have good reviews on Eatability so I previously suggested Sanctuary Hotel as an option which is just across the road and sounded OK as a no frills affordable dinner option in reviews by Grab Your Fork and EatShow&Tell. The pub is quite large and stylish with nice lights hanging from the ceiling. Plenty of tables for dining and an easy system of ordering your food at the bar and then getting a buzzer to collect your food when ready from the kitchen.
My Certified Angus Rump was pretty much medium-rare as ordered and the house salad was quite good value I thought for only $6. I didn't really know what Certified Angus really meant but it sounded good so here's the meaning if your interested. Everyone seemed happy enough with their meals including a risotto and the linguini with grilled prawns. The Sanctuary Hotel seems a good option around that part of town for some reasonably priced pub food. Slightly cheaper priced bistro food of steaks and schnitzels at Martin Place I can also recommend are at Hotel Chambers. The Manhattan Lounge next door promote their $7 rump steaks but I doubt they are Certified Angus and you have to order a drink — I've tried and you can't really expect much for $7.
250gm Certified Angus Rump with chips (instead of creamy mash) $11
Chicken breast schnitzel with thick cut chips $12
House salad $6
