Randwick seems to be attracting a competitive pizza market with the new smart looking doughboy pizza shop recently opening on 1 April 2009. At first it didn't seem to attract many customers as I walked past each time but tonight while picking up a takeaway order it was totally full which was a surprise to see. It's a small shop with some communal table seating for about 12 people which is larger than the Base Pizza Bar on Belmore Road and Pizza Man part of Video Ezy on Alison Road which are just shop fronts. The larger restaurants of Moseley's La Bussola Pizzeria Restaurant and Old Castile Randwick on Avoca Street have more seating for larger dining groups.
The toppings taste fresh on the decent sized large pizza and the base is not too thick which is my preference. Online there's a promotional offer of a free salad or bread with a pizza if paid by 7.30 pm so I take this offer up to enjoy the Garlic and Cheese Bread which comes with pesto and is very tasty and a yummy alternative to having a basic garlic bread which they don't seem to have on the menu.
I'd probably try some other pizzas in the future to compare to my existing favourites of the 'Base Supreme' at Base Pizza Bar and the 'Moseley' at Moseley's La Bussola for that lazy night in watching a DVD movie — although to fully appreciate pizzas I think it's always best to try them dining in to minimize travel time and their crispy bases going too soggy.
Capricciosa Pizza: Tomato, mozzarella, Italian ham, roasted capsicum, mushrooms, olives, with pesto & fresh basil $20.50 (large)

Oooh a friend of mine loves Doughboy and was so excited it opened up in Randwick, her home suburb... so she took me there shortly after it opened to take advantage of the coupons (plural because she even stole her neighbours coupons! haha) and indeed it was yummy!
I've driven past here so many times, never thought to try it though. The garlic & cheese bread looks amazing!
Defintely recommend 'The Judd' pizza.
Hehe no "Simon's favourite"? ;) The cheese and garlic bread looks pretty good.
I always go to the one in Potts Point and I can't seem to find a better pizza in Sydney.
hi pearl, it's still the only time i've been but i remember that garlic cheese bread fondly.
