Italian Pastries in Rose Bay

When these guys were first opening I believe they called themselves Dolce Roma Italian Bakery according to their Facebook but not long after they seemed to have changed their name to I Pasticceri Italiani. A foodie tip by Lorri Loca mentioned their cannoli were good so have kept in mind if passing by. A quick stop in for a Cappuccino ($4.50 dine in) that's probably considered pricey for the lack of sophistication in both the coffee and decor setting compared to many other well-established cafes in Sydney doing excellent coffee for less. The Babyccino ($2.50 dine in) required more attention to make sure the milk wasn't too hot and it's one of the more expensive babyccinos around town considering it doesn't come with a marshmallow. The barista also queried if I wanted it served in a glass or paper cup and I replied which do you think would be safer — thankfully he decided the paper cup would be best. Mini Cannolo ($2 each) are petit bites that would go well with any coffee for a sugar hit. Quite nice pastry and filling. The horseshoe chocolate covered biscuit was also quite nice but probably something I wouldn't get again as I'm not a big fan of that kind of biscuit but it caught the eye of Miss 4 year old to try. Service was friendly and welcoming. Decor is very basic and looks like the chalkboards on the wall are still to be filled with menus. I spotted a decadent looking Tiramisu Cake for $20 in the counter display which looked pretty tempting to share with a few people. It's probably early days and they're still finding their feet but hopefully will become a local gem for Italian pastries.

Ordered a "very hot" latte this morning (asked twice for "very hot"). They made it luke warm . Not the first time either. Won't be back. The barista, instead of spending most of his time playing with his mobile phone should practice making coffees very hot.
