Indian Food the Real Way
I'm actually not sure what the 'real way' is but this is what they are promoting themselves as. The review by SMH Good Living is stuck to their window which notes they have been going since 1991 — I guess that's a pretty good run for any Sydney restaurant. There's plenty of clean simple tables when arriving for dinner and the service is friendly and welcoming. The papadams are good and tasty and the raita OK but would have loved a bit more cucumber in it. The vegetable samosa is OK too, although nothing special to report. The Chicken Tikka was very tasty and tender and came with fresh salad on the side. The entrees were timely but there was unfortunately a very long wait between the entrees and mains, I think about 45 minutes, and during this time there were take away orders being picked up and little coming out of the kitchen for eat-in diners so I think they were quite understaffed in the kitchen. The wait however was worth it and I really enjoyed the Lamb Korma and especially their version of Butter Chicken which had a bit of a heat kick to it. I wouldn't mind eating here again but I'm not sure if I would have the patience for a long wait again — perhaps take away is a better option.
Lamb Korma: Lamb cooked in a rich moughalai sauce $15.90
Butter Chicken: Fillet of chicken half cooked in tandoor and finished in a rich sauce of tomato, butter and cream $14.90
