What's Old is New Again
Renovations are looking great at this local pub gem bringing their A-game to attract a wider audience extending to all floors including the roof. The ground floor Public Bar and Jessies on Level 1 are completed and the Level 2 Club Lounge and Level 3 Slims Rooftop are looking to be finished soon. Great to see the menu isn't too expensive and the daily specials still exist at an attractive price. Cheese & Bacon Burger comes with signature dry aged blend, bacon, cheese, pickles, ketchup, mustard served with fries ($12 Monday Daily Special, normally $16). Nice softish bun and tasty pattie that's cooked medium with good melty cheese. There's a decent amount of tasty pickle action and nice bacon and good crispy fries. Would love to hack it with some jalapenos and their special sauce. The pub menu has many of the classic suspects but I spy 'Pepperoni Pig' with slow roasted pork belly, pepperoni, jalapeño & pickled peppers — Hello! Service was good and friendly and I believe a chef from their sister pub Charing Cross Hotel is in the kitchen which means some great food is on the cards. Jessies takes advantage of windows looking towards the tree skyline of Hyde Park and the decor is looking very cosy. I spy room sections that would suit reserved areas for large groups. Can't wait to see the final rooftop which will take advantage of the city and Hyde Park skyline
