Easter egg hunting in Adora
I've often walked past the Adora in the city but this is the first time I've visited their store in Rose Bay. Lots of tempting chocolates on display but I'm here for an easter egg for the Mrs. She prefers white chocolate and the Dinosaur Egg ($45) looks like the one to please. Such a massive sized egg that has the wow factor I was looking for. The store is located in a nice little precinct of shops with free street parking. I must revisit the bakery I spotted across the road called La Bretagne — looked promising.

Chocolate and coffee fix
Hard to go past this place and not be tempted by all the handmade chocolates on display. All coffees come with your choice of a handmade chocolates and I'm sure they factor this in with the pricing as well. Affogato ($6.50) using ‘Adora's very own gelato made with fresh milk and vanilla beans ’ has a good amount of gelato and the coffee is strong. I chose the Ginger Truffle as my chocolate side which was very nice. I'm assuming the coffee is from The Coffee Roaster which is on the sugar packets. Service friendly and there's a few tables around for dining in. There's also some very yummy looking cakes on display which I'll have to try some other time.

Coffee and cake on Macquarie
I love the abundance of fresh quality flowers here both inside and outside the small cafe. Quaint courtyard seating with umbrellas for shade make for a pleasant experience on a nice sunny day. They do a good job with Campos Coffee. Cappuccino ($3.50) had a strong flavour and helps to cut through the yummy daily special of Chocolate hazelnut mousse cake ($4). Smooth and light texture makes it easy to enjoy on your own. It would have been better served with a real plate and fork rather than the cardboard tray and wooden takeaway fork. Those wooden forks on the teeth are like fingernails on a chalkboard for me. And the rich decadent yet sticky chocolate coating loved to stick like tar to the cardboard surface. Lovely friendly service amongst historic surrounds.

Connoisseur Gourmet Ice Cream: Murray River Salted Caramel with Macadamia on a stick (18 Aug 2013)

339 calories of joy & happiness
I've been seeing a few tweets of late mentioning the new Connoisseur Gourmet Ice Cream on a stick range so when I spotted them in Coles with 20% off my curiosity got the better of me. My first reaction was to get one of each but then I reasoned with myself and tried to decide on just one flavour which was actually quite hard to choose as they all sounded wickedly good. In the end I decided on the Murray River Salted Caramel with Macadamia ($6, 4 pack Coles special) because I thought it's quite a classic flavour combination and macadamias are generally expensive to buy. Packaging and graphics very nice so kudos to the advertising company that did them. Once to take off all the packaging you're left with a product that looks very similar to a Magnum. Texture, flavour and creaminess of the ice cream all very enjoyable. Flavours work a treat together. The gooey caramel sauce wasn't that noticeable while biting through but you could sort of taste it. My preference is usually dark chocolate these days but this one was very nice. I'd happily have again but now interested to try the other flavours.
SNAPSHOT REVIEW:
PROS: Was an enjoyable flavour combination and other interesting flavours available, Decadent treat
CONS: Decadent treats don't come cheap, High in sugar and fat
MUST TRY: Murray River Salted Caramel with Macadamia
VERDICT: Nice packaging makes these look like a luxury treat. Exotic flavours will provide a point of difference to the consumer.
