Gelato hits the sugar spot
The popular Messina is one of my favourite spots for gelato along with Dolce & Gelato in Newtown. Everytime I visit I'm overwhelmed with choice but more often than not I'm tempted to get the Coconut & Lychee — it's just such a nice refreshing flavour. The Tiramisu had nice spongy cake pieces in it which were full of flavour. I'll have to remember they make affogato as well for next time — hopefully they make a good coffee to match the quality gelato.

The tiramisu flavour looks delicious!
How does it compare to Bar Italia in Leichhardt?
Looking at your pictures, I noticed a flavour I have somehow managed to miss! Orangeflower & pinenuts. How fabulous. Ok, that'll be the mission for this weekend.
Gobsmack'd. (still can't get over how I missed that. We dine next door at Zushi - cheap sushi btw 6 & 7pm nightly - regularly, so there's no excuse really.
hi iron chef shellie, you'll have to check out and see what other flavours will tempt you
hi ellen, i've actually only been once to bar italia many years ago and didn't like it. i was with a group of friends and many of us couldn't finish (didn't want to) finish our ice creams so i haven't been back since. perhaps I should?
hi gobsmack'd, i didn't even notice that flavour myself, i'll have to try too! thanks for the tip for Zushi, sounds like a cheap yet good meal to be had. sounds like you do a lot of eating out too — perhaps you should have a food blog as well?
Coconut and Lychee is one of my favorites as well! Since moving to Sydney...there is so much good food to try that I've tried to not do repeats until I've tried them all! Unlikely, but especially for Gelato Messina - too good!
hi esther, it would be very dangerous for me if i lived any closer to Messina. i love their gelato :-)
