Nigella’s popularity is enormous
Nigella Lawson definitely had a very successful book signing event today promoting her latest Kitchen: Recipes From The Heart Of The Home. Adoring fans snaked around in a queue covering the entire ground floor of David Jones and Nigella's new book was sold out well before the event officially was meant to finish at 1.30 pm. Those lucky enough to purchase themselves a copy were ushered along the enormous queue until finally meeting the ever-smiling Nigella to get their book signed, or any other recipes books of hers they managed to purchase. Due to the popularity there was no time for heartfelt pleasantries with the churn and burn system allowing only a signature without personalisation and very little photo opportunities as customers were ushered to move on within about 10 seconds upon arriving at the signing desk. A pianist was present to play the grand piano which probably helped to entertain and calm the crowds while they waited for their moment with Nigella. The majority of fans seemed to be women of all ages but there was no shortage of men who I’m sure were there for a cooking tips or possibly have been told by their partners to make sure they get a signed copy of Nigella’s new book for them.

Nice photos and coverage Simon. Did you get a book signed? Would of loved to have seen a pic of both of you to add to your collection that it didn't happen due to the mayhem.

hi The Concealer, i never got that memo. i guess you can't really stop people from taking a photo of it but i was focusing more on the people behind taking photos. she kept it pretty well hidden anyway
