Eating travels of Melbourne
I'm enjoying Melbourne and trying to visit the
eating and bar suggestions from my reader comments. The speakers at the
AGideas Conference Day 1 have been good and one of them was
Jacques Reymond who gave a very inspiring talk about his family history and passions for food. I've now been inspired to add his restaurant to my wish list and hopefully I can get a booking for this Thursday if all goes well :-). Tried to get into
Cutler & Co. but was booked out Monday night so ended up checking out
Cumulus Inc instead and had some very yummy Crispy School Prawns in Garlic and Chilli (pictured above).

I was there too over the weekend! I enjoyed Longrain there. It was as good if less buzzy and busy than its Sydney counterpart. The food and cocktails were no less thrilling and delightful though!
Hmm, glad that you've taken my suggestion(s)- even if Cutler couldn't accommodate. Did you see/meet Andrew MacConnell at Cumulus? He often pop by for a bite, either before or after service at Cutler. Do make an effort to have dessert (latter part of week only) at M'sieur Truffe. And a tipple or five at Supper Club, or New Gold Mountain. Gobsmack'd
Welcome back home Simon! =)
Nice looking prawns! Jacques Reymond spoke at your conference? How interesting. I was at his eponymous restaurant (review still coming) and he did a Gordon Ramsay on his kitchen staff! LOL
Looking forward to more Melb food porn :)
hi madam wu, i spotted it on my travels but didn't get a chance to check it out. looked really nice though.
hi gobsmack'd, i didn't spot Andrew MacConnell although i also didn't know who he was was perhaps he might have been there. i sat at Table 1 which was right near the kitchen so i could check out how they prepared all the dishes and also could see them before the waiters took them out to tables. i unfortunately didn't have time to make it to M'sieur Truffe or Supper Club but visited New Gold Mountain which I realised I've been to before :-)
hi angie, it's good to be back but i miss Melbourne too.
hi joey, jacques reymond was up at Noose when I visited the restaurant so i didn't get to meet him. so did he get really upset with his staff when you visited? i look forward to reading your review.
hi foodwink, lots to come when i get the time.
