Free Pizza: Hidden Pizza Restaurant opening tonight somewhere in Melbourne (12 April 2010)

Location: TBC
http://hiddenpizza.com.au

Do you love a free pizza?

For all those Melbournites who love a freebie I'm sure there's a frenzy going on at the moment in working out where this new pizza place is located. Hidden Pizza is opening tonight and for two weeks they will be offering a range of pizzas for "FREE" which are cooked in a wood fire oven using mostly local ingredients and their own bio-dynamic freshly ground flour made onsite. They also grow their herbs onsite. Apparently benchtops and stools are made from recycled plywood, cushions are covered in recycled billboard skins and pizzas are served on recycled cardboard sheets and wrapped in recycled paper.

I hope someone in Melbourne can provide me the exact location soon or I'm sure it will be blogged about in the next 24 hours :-)

PS. Stickyfingers has added some excellent info. Searching in Yellow Pages will reveal the phone number 1300 615 786 to call and order your free pizza and be provided with the location. This leads me onto another thought that if they're taking phone orders does that mean you simply can't turn up and get a free pizza?

Free pizzas from 12 April til 25 April 2010:
Hot Salami: Napoli, hot salami, fresh mozzarella, olives.
Margarita: Napoli, fresh mozzarella, basil.
Vegetarian: Crispy potato, taleggio, spinach.
Prawn: Napoli, fresh mozzarella, tiger prawns, garlic, parsley.
Capricciosa: Napoli, leg ham, fresh mozzarella, mushrooms, black olives.

SNAPSHOT REVIEW:
PROS: It's free (for 2 weeks), It's new, Environmentally friendly design
CONS: Need to find the location, It's in Melbourne (I'm in Sydney), I predict it will be very popular, crowded and possibly long waits to cater for the demand
MUST TRY: Finding the location and all the pizzas while they're free

That is an interesting marketing concept in deed. Simon, please keep us Sydneysiders up to date when you learn more.

It's a simple marketing promotion organised with The Yellow Pages.

You're asked to hunt for the details "in the traditional way" which takes you to yellow pages online, where banners list the phone number and tell you to ring for your free pizza - whereupon you'll be given the location. Yellow pages will ostensibly be paying for those free pizzas in the first few weeks.

Facebook has been used to good effect and it has fed through to twitter, which has made it an effective low cost social media publicity campaign.

Luckily they also have a good product. A campaign like this could flop easily if it didn't. Tony Fazio and family have long been respected for their pizza making abilities, I'm looking forward to getting over there to try it.

Went tonight, great space, sort of underground warehouse. Was busy so too a little while, but well worth it. Good pizza and a bit of fun finding etc.

Wow! Your search for freebies even extends inter-city. Amazing!

Just spent 30 minutes trying to call, get through only to get the message I was out of the "operating zone". I live 10 minutes drive away from Fitzroy in Docklands - what a joke. I called on both my mobile AND my landline.

Promises of freebies always end disappointingly.

hi andyjay, it sounds like hidden pizza is too popular now. the things we do for a free pizza. sounds like i'll have buckley's chance of getting one when i visit melbourne this weekend :-( and the pizzas sound pretty good.
