Cheap and tasty blood soup

It's always a battle finding a seat during lunch peak hour at the Hunter Connection Food Court but the newish Bangkok Wok stall makes a decent Boat Noodle soup worth checking out in my books if your a fan of the blood broth and it's pretty cheap too. The colourful pink broth of the Yen Ta Fo soup is quite unusual as I've never come across it before and is possibly even more of an acquired taste for me. They sell bottles of water for only $1 or try their Longan Drink for $2.

Spice up your lunch

Even though I was still recovering from a weak stomach from my fatty French dining experience at Chez Pascal the night before I was totally inspired by Tasted By Two's food blog review of Spice I Am for lunch the next day to try their Boat Noodle Soup so I could compare it to the one I had at Chat Thai. The broth definitely had a lot of depth to the taste and I enjoyed it very much. My Malaysian born colleague enjoyed his Guay Jab with delicious bits of pork although found the soup a bit on the sweet side for his taste buds. I asked for some lime to squeeze in our soups (possibly sacrilege?) which we thought worked really well and gave the broth another dimension — try it.

Previously I've only visited for dinner for their yummy Mussaman Beef, Basil Crispy Pork Belly, Duck Curry and Soft Shell Crab but hope to visit again for lunch now. Timing is everything to get a seat in this very popular restaurant which still remains one of my favourite Thai restaurants in Sydney.

A favourite dish recommendation by Anna from Morsels & Musings inspires me to try for lunch at Chat Thai after just having lunch there the day before. This time it's for the Boat Noodle Soup which comes with crackling. It's full of flavour and I love the taste to the last spoonful. I'm not sure what's in it but each mouthful is satisfying taste sensation. Be sure to eat your crackling quickly before it gets too soggy from the soup. A colleague has the Green Papaya Salad which has lovely fresh ingredients, served with sticky rice and provides noticeable garlic and chilli on the taste buds.
