New Mecca kids on the block
Loving the fit-out of this new kid on the block serving Mecca Coffee. I'm a big fan of The Little Bishop just down the road for a coffee fix but this place has the temptation of more seating for the dine in experience and extra seating out the back pending council approval. Cappuccino ($3.50) was nice and the Housemade Cranberry and Coconut Muffin ($4.50) helped fill the morning stomach void. Service was friendly and the cafe seems to be gaining popularity fast. The reasonably priced menu includes some take away sandwiches for only $9 which should keep the lunch time locals happy. Thanks Deirdre O'Loghlin for the coffee tip.

Serving Soul since 2012
Ranking in at #4 spot on the Time Out Sydney best coffee in Sydney CBD list this small but happening cafe with friendly service and intimate vibe is where they still respect old school vinyl and cassettes. My Cappuccino ($3.50) uses a house blend created with the help of The Little Marionette called 'Jungle Boogie' with interesting flavour at first sip that's enjoyable and seems to mellow out to a lightish finish towards the end of the cup. Muffin life is strong with a housemade Apple & Fig Muffin ($4) that's smallish in size but its light texture with a pleasant crust makes for a perfect match with a good coffee.

Coffee run in Surry Hills
Nothing much stays the same in Sydney these days. I remember when this place used to be Fifi Foveaux's. Those with ereuthophobia will be pleased to know there's now less red inside. Service friendly and barista passionate about making a decent cup of coffee. Cappuccino ($3.50) uses a house blend and was very nice. Babyccino ($2.50) is one of the more expensive around town served as mostly milk and in a ceramic cup which would be better served in one of their plastic cups in case dropped. Little marshmallows on the side always welcome. Nutella and chocolate muffin ($7.50 with coffee combo deal) from Black Poison was very nice and decadent. Free range eggs your way on sourdough toast ($8.50) is a generous serve and scrambled eggs cooked well. Pretty good value I think and would happily order again.
