Ground control to North Sydney
‘Our brand new MODBAR espresso system offers state of the art technology and produces perfectly timed extraction, temperature control and water pressure levels.’
Promising venue for a coffee hit in North Sydney. Cappuccino ($3.70) using the HUMM Milk Blend 34% Colombia, 33% Brazil, 33% Ethiopia has a good hit of flavour and the froth factor is notable. Piccolo ($3.50) is served a bit of the luke warm side but the Hot chocolate ($4) is good. Apple & ginger juice ($7) is nice. Shortstop donuts are on offer but understandably go quickly so get in early to secure your sugar hit. Parking is metered during the weekday shared with clearways in the area but the weekend offers free parking. Service friendly, baristas are passionate and air con will hopefully be sorted in the near future otherwise stick to the outside breeze and watch the traffic go by.

Cafe gem on Victoria St
Good things coming out of this narrow cafe space with friendly service and wonderful temptations on display from Brickfields. Piccolo ($3.50) and Cappuccino ($3.50) made with The Black Lab coffee with a good strong flavour. Babyccinos were free and so cute with dog and cat froth art. The kids loved them. Mortadella, semi-dried tomato, provolone sandwich ($12.50) so simple yet so tasty. Avo smash - goats feta, lemon, cherry tomato and mint ($15.50) looking so vibrant and pretty and delivered on great flavour. Loved the addition of the spiced dukkah (I think) on the lemon to squeeze on top to bring the flavour hit to the next level. Such a great addition to the cafe hub on Victoria Street.

Grand Cru coffee in Potts Point
Check out this very popular corner cafe for a quick coffee fix. I liked my Cappuccino ($4.20) using Grand Cru Coffee with a bold hit of flavour and plenty of well formed froth. The Piccolo ($3.80) wasn't as well liked by the Mrs and we both agreed the coffee seemed to work much better with the heavier volume of milk. Service was efficient and on the ball juggling orders and seating swiftly. Spotted a few tempting cakes on the main common dining table that I'm suspecting were baked in the morning. Nice space and plenty of seating both inside and out. I like how you the coffee machine is on show so you can check out the barista in action. Keen to try their Smokin Mary or Breakfast Negroni next time.
