So if you were to pick the best romantic picnic spot in Sydney for Valentine's Day where would you recommend?

One of my top picks would have to be Laings Point Reserve which is past Watsons Bay Hotel and has a view stretching from the city skyline to Manly wharf — you can even watch the Sydney ferries going back and forth between the two points. If you're feeling adventurous then bring along your swimmers because there's an amazing natural rock pool with one of the best views you'll find in Sydney — hopefully the sharks won't be able to jump into it though. Camp Cove is close as well which you can see from Laings Point Reserve. If your stuck for food then grab some nice salads from Charcoal Chicken in Rose Bay on the way or some fish and chips from Doyles on the Beach near Watsons Bay Hotel.

Great views of Sydney

Perfect Sunday weather brings me to Watsons Bay Hotel for a very Sydney Aussie outdoors dining experience. Blue sky, blue water, fish n chips, beer on tap, harbour bridge and city skyline view and close to the Sydney Harbour National Park is a winning formula for chilling out.

While lining up to order at the outdoors kitchen I noticed most tables had ordered the fish n chips. Obviously a very popular choice and with 2 fillets of fish it was looking quite substantial so I made it my choice today. They seem to pre deep fry the chips and fish so it's always ready to serve up straight away with your order so it's a bit of a luck of the draw to which pieces you end up getting from the counter. Mine seemed slightly smaller than others I've seen and the batter was a little soft in parts but the beautiful weather made up for the shortcomings.

The garlic prawn linguini looked fantastic with about 6 decent sized plump prawns cooked just right. I thought it needed extra seasoning and garlic to make it more tasty which would have made it an even better dish for my taste buds. My side salad was very fresh which helped balance all the chips I ate.
