A fun day of blue food

Arriving late and with no time to bake or cook anything (still organising and packing for my USA trip on Monday 11 October) it was great to see so many food bloggers coming along for the days festivities. Blue was the theme and hats as well. It was great to see so many creative hats on display and I was keen to see the Lady Gaga hat which I saw being twitted earlier — unfortunately it didn't survive before I got there. I was thinking of making blue coloured white chocolate crackles with a blue smurf on top but time got the better of me. The blue cookie monsters were so cute — you can never had too many I say. Views of Sydney Harbour Bridge

My brother was kind enough to prepare some nice sandwich wraps for our Mother's Day family picnic outing on the weekend along with some tasty peeled Tiger prawns. We also had plenty of chips, olives, cheese, dip and bread to fill the stomachs while taking in the views of the waterways around Birchgrove and the city skyline in the distance. It's a nice spot with an interesting history although keep in mind the planted trees are fairly new so there's little shade from the sun to be found. The weekend seems to be very popular on a good day so street parking in very limited although thankfully it's free.

Best romantic picnic spot in Sydney for Valentine's Day (7 Feb 2010)

So if you were to pick the best romantic picnic spot in Sydney for Valentine's Day where would you recommend?

One of my top picks would have to be Laings Point Reserve which is past Watsons Bay Hotel and has a view stretching from the city skyline to Manly wharf — you can even watch the Sydney ferries going back and forth between the two points. If you're feeling adventurous then bring along your swimmers because there's an amazing natural rock pool with one of the best views you'll find in Sydney — hopefully the sharks won't be able to jump into it though. Camp Cove is close as well which you can see from Laings Point Reserve. If your stuck for food then grab some nice salads from Charcoal Chicken in Rose Bay on the way or some fish and chips from Doyles on the Beach near Watsons Bay Hotel.
