Bacon & Egg for the soul

Apparently 'Best Bacon & Egg Wrap in Surry Hills' and Sydney according to their signs although I'm not quite who has awarded this title to them. Possibly self-proclaimed? Menu board special of a Bacon & Egg Wrap with a coffee ($10) is cooked to order. It's a tasty wrap with two large eggs, bacon, tasty cheese, homemade aioli & secret sauce. Comes with a side dish of sweet chilli sauce and pesto although I reckon they should add this into the wrap. It didn't come with a spoon so not quite sure if I'm supposed to dip my wrap into the sauce dish? Cappuccino was pretty good although I do prefer others in the area. The young lady on service was lovely and friendly. The wrap took about 10 minutes to make so keep that in mind in case you're in a rush. The view is of the Surry Hills Police Station. Decor is simple and basic and could perhaps do with a bit of a reno. Those bamboo covered milk crates as ceiling light shades have seen better days. Spotted a Ham & Cheese Croissant with a coffee special for $7.50 which I might get next time.

Coffee gem in Darlinghurst

These guys have been very consistent in serving good coffee using Campos Coffee. Loving my Mocha ($4) and discovered they also do and fantastic Bacon and Egg Wrap ($10 with coffee) for a quick and easy breakfast eat. Such friendly guys and a nice local vibe as people drop in for a quick chat and coffee fix. I think the French Toast with Nutella and fresh banana and strawberries for $10 is calling my name next visit.

Coffee with a side of guns

Self proclaiming themselves as making 'Sydney's Best Bacon & Egg Wrap' and 'Surry Hill’s Best Bacon & Egg Wrap' is a big call although until proven wrong I guess it quite possibly might be. It’s a nice variation to serving in a roll or muffin which also makes it a little easier to perhaps eat on the run like a kebab. Bean Temple sits directly opposite the cold war style concrete bunker of the Sydney Police Centre. This must be why it’s one of the only cafes I’ve visited where you’ll see cops and their holstered guns making you feel somewhat safe and scared at the same time. If you’ve missed your parole check-in then it’s probably best to avoid this place.

The Bacon and egg wrap ($5.95) comes with bacon, egg, cheese, BBQ sauce, homemade aioli and fruit chutney. For extra taste kick you can add some of the chilli jam and pesto which is served on the side. Brunch dining companions order the reasonably priced and sized Chicken and bacon sandwich ($9.95) and Chicken and herb sandwich ($7.95) with favourable satisfaction. My cappuccino ($3 small) was non-bitter and nicely made with some depth of flavour.

CONS: If you’re scared of the sight of guns or police then best to avoid this place
