Coffee and Avocado Toast
Another coffee tip by Michelle @saint_anderson_cafe brings me to check out Guzzle. Service is keen, energetic and friendly. Cappuccino ($3.50) using a custom house blend was very good with a nice amount of froth and enjoyable flavour. Avocado Toast ($7) was quite nice and the addition of pickles on the side is a nice touch. I noticed in four spots around the cafe the promotion for the Avocado Toast with Coffee for $9 but apparently that's only available as a breakfast special. Ended up being $10.50 combined. I've advised they should really specify the timing of the special to avoid confusion. Loving the pretty cool art on the wall by @biffybrentano.

Pre movie Thai dinner
My first time visit to this Thai oasis well located near Event Cinemas for a bite to eat before a movie. Love the decor and friendly service. The menu looks so interesting with lots of dishes I've never hear of before but tempt me to try. The prices seem quite reasonable too and we spotted lots of great looking dishes coming out of the kitchen while we dined. This time around it's just a quick bite to eat with the Mrs on our date night away from the kids. Betel leaf with poached prawn ($4 each) are well presented and tasty. Definitely would get these again. Chicken Satay ($12, 8 pieces) are smallish but tender and go well with some Steamed Rice ($3) as a simple meal. Next time I'd definitely want to try the Mussel Pancake and Tumeric Wafers that sound intriguing. I love how there's free parking with entry after 6 pm too so there's not rush and worry about parking.

Coffee, Toasties & Pickling
“I have been in the Hospitality game for over 14 years and have finally decided to branch out and focus on my passion. Pickling. It might seem weird to some, but i've set up a great local cafe with superb service and great local coffee and produce to share a little bit of my passion with you. You can look forward to some pickles made with love with some of your dishes.”
The guys at Pickled seem to have done a fine job on their first day of opening despite the chef calling in sick. I liked my Cappuccino ($3.50) using DC Speciality Coffee Roasters from Melbourne and the Mrs approves of her Latte ($3.50). Hot Chocolate ($3.50) for Miss 4 year old hits the spot with a good hit of chocolate. Babyccino for Miss 1 year old is free but served in a breakable glass and filled with mostly milk that's still steaming a bit of heat which is a recipe for a messy disaster. Some napkins with the beverages would have been appreciated from our lovely friendly service who wasn't quite sure what a Babyccino was but is fully educated now.
We really enjoyed the 3 Cheese Toastie with Gruyere, cheddar and pecorino ($10) served on Brickfields rye sourdough with a lovely fennel flavour and the Vege Toastie with pickled radish and beetroot, Gruyere, rocket and aioli ($10) was equally yummy. The fit out is nice and there's some outdoor seating which probably will come in handy for those with dogs. Lots of big jars of pickling spotted although nothing for sale at this stage but hopefully in the future. I'm hoping they'll also include some large green olives in the range. My next toastie on the wishlist will be their Reuben with Pastrami, gruyere, house made sauerkraut and Russian dressing for $10.

Coffee oasis in Broadway
Good coffee in Broadway Shopping Centre isn't the first thing I would expect to find but a coffee tip by Michelle @saint_anderson_cafe brings me to check out this lovely coffee oasis on Level 3. My Cappuccino ($3.60) was good and uses Sovereign Coffee Roasters served in a nice Kaz ceramic cup and saucer. The Botanica cold pressed juice of Watermelon with apple and lemon ($7) hits the spot for a refreshing and healthy drink. Babyccinos are free which is great and wasn't expecting that from such a nice fit out. They're served in a paper cup with a lid by friendly service minus a marshmallow for the little ones. These guys also look after Abana Espresso Kiosk in Martin Place which are a popular spot for a coffee fix in the CBD but this is now their flagship store. Spotted nice looking salads, ready made sandwiches and tempting sweet treats.
