Doughnut Cakes are Cool
So here's a great simple idea for a cake I spotted someone made for their 26th birthday at The Manhattan Lounge last night while attending my friends 40th birthday. I'm sure it's not the first time it's been done but it's the first time I've seen one up close and personal. For me it's like the American version of the Croquembouche. My preference for my own birthday cake these days is usually to make it out of smaller bite sized pieces of sweet goodness so there's no need to cut and plate the cake and there's no need for cutlery. I might steal this idea for my next birthday cake, otherwise it'll possibly be made from cupcakes which is cool as well.
Do you have any great ideas for a birthday cake?

I think my arteries just clogged up from merely looking at it.
Although to achive that authentic Aussie-ness, you'll need to make the doughnut cake with KK's Not-Iced-VoVo doughnuts, hehe! Imagine, the cake will be pre-iced!
Hi aptronym, as long as you can stick to just having one it should be ok hehe
Hi YaYa, sounds awesome and very Aussie!
