Shop 48B Royal Randwick Shopping Centre

Open 7 days 10.30 am to 9.30 pm
This recent addition to the main strip of Randwick seems to be gaining some popularity as a cheap and cheerful eating spot. Squeezed in seating is clean and casual, service very efficient and I noticed in the window display some meal specials as cheap as $6 and $7. I think the food is a bit above average from what you'd expect from a place like this and serving sizes seem generous. This is the second time I've eaten here and would visit again when it's late and I'm too tired to cook something at home.

Simon, I went on Saturday based on your review. However, I made the fatal mistake of ordering the char kway teow even though I could hear the chefs nattering away in very Hong Kong-y Cantonese. That'll teach me to ignore the alarm bells thundering! Bland heap of soggy noodles with raw curry powder. 'Nuff said.

Hi Gobsmack'd, thanks for letting me know about the char kway teow. it's hard to find a decent one in Sydney. any suggestions?
Hi Simon, The version found at Kopitiam in Ultimo is pretty decent - hot, smoky/charry and definitely 'perfumed' with lard croutons. Can't really think of any other at present, sadly. I didn't rate the one at Temasek, or the one at Sam's Satay (now defunct) in Surry Hills.

Hi Godsmack'd, I've been pretty happy with Kopitiam Cafe on Harris St too. Likewise with Alice's in Thornleigh if you get a chance to try. The search continues.
