Open and back in business
The Galeries food court renovations seem to be completed now and all is back on track for Chat Thai with it's new shop in a slightly new location. The branding police have also made it look like it's other stores. It certainly looks a lot different to what it used to look like. The seating and decor of the food court has totally changed for the better looking more modern, welcoming and a lot cleaner. Unfortunately with renovations it seems prices have also risen a bit. I was fearing this would happen but hopefully the quality remains the same if not better. I've yet to try any of the dishes but surely will in time.
Duck noodle soup ($14.90) - good depth of broth flavours, a bit more duck would have been welcomed
Visited 9 March 2012
Menu No. 41 Gai Yaang: Grilled turmeric and lemongrass marinated chicken with smoked chilli and tamarind relish on rice ($11.90) - meat was a bit on the dry side but relish helped moisten in up, flavoursome spices
Menu No. 51 Grapao Cripy [Crispy] Pork Belly: Stir fried crisp pork belly, fresh chilli and holy basil with fried egg and rice ($13.90) - lots of flavour, fried egg could have been a bit runnier, holy basil gave the dish a nice taste. Best not to eat this one if you have a meeting or they'll know about it.

Chat Thais taking over the city. :-) Which one is best I wonder? I've only been to the original.
hi joey, if you could buy shares in Chat Thai then now would be a good time to buy :-) i think the original haymarket one might be the best but the sydney westfield one looked pretty nice and more open in space.
I love the Haymarket Chat Thai. My favourite Thai restaurant in Sydney. It tastes just like eating in Bangkok which is the highest praise I can give really.
Your not wrong on the change in look. Unless you were told it was quite easy not to realise the old branch in the Galleries was a Chat Thai!
The prices do look a bit higher >$10 is a psychological barrier for a food court lunch for me.
hi richard, over $10 is usually a breaker for me for lunch meals unless it's really good and even then it might be only once or twice a week. preferably i like to spend less than $10 for my lunches since i buy every day during work.
Tonight will be our 3rd visit to Chat Westfield. It's a great place to share a meal after taking our friends/visitors around the new complex. Great food and atmosphere, Really popular - grab a number.
hi Anonymous, all the chat thai stores always seem very popular. they must be doing something right :-)
