The Theatre of Butchery
So now I know where carnivores go to feast and vegetarians fear to tread. After reading Not Quite Nigella's post about this new gourmet butchery which has only be opened for about 3 weeks since 24 August 2009 I felt intrigued to check it out. The staff were very friendly and informative and obliging for me taking photos around the shop which had so many curious customers checking out the produce. For those who don't like cooking there are so many gourmet meaty options already prepared and ready to cook like the Lamb Loins with Spinach and Feta ($35.99/kg), Spring Lamb Navarin ($24.50) and Spatchcocks with Proscuitto ($12 each). Wagyu fans will find prices ranging from the Wagyu Beef Patties for $3 each up to the David Blackmore's Full Blood Wagyu for $169.99/kg. They also catered for the sweet tooth with the Chocolate Mousse with Candied Orange on display under the cameras for $7.40 each. Watching the skillful butchers behind the glass was like a theatre show as they chopped, sliced, dissected and prepared customers orders and produce for the displays — you've seen open kitchens, well now experience an open butchery.

I've heard a lot of good things about this Gourmet Butchery. That chocolate mousse looks so good.
Now this is my kind of theatre.
I like the sense of humour that's woven into this place. Looks like it would be a nice place to just hangout, let alone buy anything.
Oh I definitely want to visit this place! I was drooling at some of the meat oh to be rich and afford all the things that my senses long for!!
Oooo this would be dangerous territory for me....I'd want to buy and try it all! Mmmmmm meat.....
hi a cupcake for two, i'm so tempted to try next time
hi simon, i think all the customers were just in awe of such a place
hi clekitty, i was actually quite surprised to see that some things were quite reasonably priced i thought, but of course there's also the very expensive options as well
hi brenda, a carnivores delight for sure :-)
oh this place is going to get REALLY busy. I read Lorraine post too, and in this month issue of GT, they have a story dedicated to them. Watch out, its going to be people overload there soon!
I can't wait to get my Christmas goodies from them!
hi maria, oh no! it's going to get really busy now. i like how bloggers find some great places and blog about it before the mainstream press do hehe :-)
hi lorraine, why wait til Christmas? so many yummy options all in one place is great isn't it
Fascinating. I'm heading there next week! Thanks for the great review.
.... guys, i just went to the opening of Haverick Direct today (Saturday), saw the ad in the paper saying it serves restaurant quality meat at wholesale prices. I live in Double Bay and have visited Vics a few times.
Havericks Direct had the same brands of meats as Victor Churchill but for half the price!!... As you can imagine i filled up my basked and couldnt wait to tell my friends that i went to the factory that supply's wholesale meat to places like kingsley's steak House, Est restaurant (as said to me by one of the good looking owners :)
Of course not as fancy looking but it is a state of the art looking factory. was v.impressed.
check it out.
hi taste buddies, hope you enjoy your visit and find some tasty products.
hi sasha, thanks for the tip about Havericks Direct. good quality and cheap is always worth knowing about :-)
