Cheap Meal Tuesday
Like most pub bistros there's always weekly specials to be found. Arriving for a casual lunch at the Clock Hotel I was pleasantly surprised to discover Tuesday was 2 for 1 Meal Deal which makes it really good value. There was only three of us dining but we were so tempted to order a fourth meal which would have worked out to be free anyway but for some strange reason we didn't — I think the Christmas eating season got the better of us. I ordered the Wagyu Beef Burger so I could compare it to my recent visit to Plan B for their famous $10 version. Plan B wins for a more moist and flavoursome burger which included beetroot although the Clock Hotel came with fries and was much less stressful finding a seat. The standout meal for me today was the Fresh Linguine with Prawns — nice and tasty with very large prawns. The Roast Beetroot Salad was also quite tasty but didn't really have as much beetroot as you'd expect it to have. Reminds me of my experience at the Bavarian Bier Cafe where their Beetroot and Pumpkin Salad had hardly any beetroot and pumpkin — WTF!
On a nice day it's a great spot to be sitting on the balcony overlooking Shannon Reserve and enjoying a Big Helga Munich Style Lager — I actually bought it just for the name. Inside you'll find some really nice and cosy lounge areas for chilling out.
Roast beetroot salad, pecorino, watercress and hazelnut picada $14.50

Looks like great pub grub. Love a 2-for-1 special - thanks for the tip!
hi jade, there's so many bistro weekly deals going around town it's pretty hard to keep up with them all :-)
