Name This Bar: Small Bar, Darlinghurst (16 Dec 2009)

197 Oxford Street, Darlinghurst NSW 2010

So new it's nameless

This bar reminds me of a more grungy version of Pocket Bar combined with a bit of urban Kings Vault casualness but without the crowds — although I think it's on the verge of becoming a lot more popular like most of the small bars that have been popping up in Sydney. It's been open for only a week and the owner still hasn't come up with a name for the bar so if you have any ideas you're more than welcome to write them on the wall — or even if you don't it's great therapy just writing anything on a wall (legally). It's quite large and actually used to be a nightclub so at least it has the storage space for proper wine glasses which Ching-a-lings sadly can't provide. Happy Hour is currently between 4-7 pm each day and they serve freshly steamed homemade dumplings of 6 different fillings. I really like the down-to-earth matter-of-fact decor and openness of the place combined with the non-matching second hand casual furniture and walls full of creative ramblings. The dumplings are a great idea for an easy snack and I think they hope to introduce cheese plates in the future.

lol, this reminds me of the vegemite fiasco. Maybe they'll rename it iBar2.0

Hi simon.

You are a fair dickhead who seems to have very little idea about what is going on.

Love your blog!
